I make photographs to understand where I am, and where I come from. My work moves slowly, through landscapes, streets, and edges of light, always searching for the quiet moments that reveal what is often overlooked. My photographs are not about documenting everything I see, but about distilling it.
Light becomes memory. Landscape becomes emotion. A frame becomes a way forward.

Almost Nothing: memories from the Italian countryside
Memories don’t come back all at once. They return in fragments, little glimpses that break through the monotony of our everyday.
These photographs tell a story of return, of peace. A rediscovery of my memories, in an attempt to find myself again. They are what I see when I go looking for what I thought was lost: the places I grew up in, passed through, moved away from. The more I looked, the more I saw how the smallest and insignificant things contained entire worlds.

A stretch of coast at Tisvildeleje, on Zealand's north shore — one of the quieter corners of the Danish coastline, where forest meets open water. The image holds to the same restrained, contemplative register as the rest of the series: soft light, muted tones, and an unhurried sense of place. A classic view of Nyhavn, Copenhagen's historic harbour, its rows of colourful townhouses rising behind a moored wooden boat where someone works quietly at the hull. Shot on Kodak Portra 400, the image carries the warmth and gentle grain of film — softer highlights, rounded colour, and a quality of light that digital rarely replicates. Waves roll in along Kamakura Beach beneath a wide, hazy sky, the water catching soft, diffused light in bands of muted blue and pewter. The horizon holds a faint trace of the coastline — hills and low buildings receding into the distance — grounding the scene in place without pulling focus from the sea itself. The mood is quiet and unhurried, in keeping with a contemplative, Nordic-inflected approach to landscape: restrained tones, a patient composition, and a sense of stillness even where the water is in motion.

I'm Luca. I grew up between the wide, quiet landscapes of the Po Valley, and I work now from Copenhagen.
I photograph mostly on location, in natural light when possible, with film and digital depending on the mood the work asks for.
I'm currently open for commissions for summer/autumn 2026.

I'm an Italian photographer based in Copenhagen. I grew up in the Po Valley in northern Italy and I've lived in Denmark for years. I work in editorial, brand, portrait and place-based photography, mostly on location and in natural light, using both digital and film. My personal work is rooted in lyrical minimalism: quiet landscapes, edges of light, the moments most people walk past. Alongside the photography I run a consulting practice in digital program leadership, which lives at lucastefanelli.dk.

Four kinds. Editorial and brand work for magazines, independent labels, hospitality and makers who prefer atmosphere over noise. Portraits, for people who don't want to perform for the camera. Workshops and photo walks in Copenhagen, in very small groups. And longer collaborations: books, exhibitions, residencies, documentary projects that need a season rather than a day. Editorial and brand work is where most of my commissioned time goes.

I am based in Copenhagen, Denmark. Most portraits and workshops happen in and around the city. Editorial, brand and collaboration work takes me wherever the story is — Denmark, the rest of the Nordics, Italy, and further when the project justifies it. Travel is scoped into the quote.

Yes. The print shop carries open edition fine-art prints from Denmark, the Faroe Islands, Italy, Japan and other locations. Each print is made to order on 230 gsm archival matte paper, in five sizes from A4 up to 70 × 100 cm, unframed or in a handmade Italian oak frame. It depends on the format. Portrait sittings start at 1,000 kr and include the session, editing and digital files. Half-day photography walks start at 4,000 DKK per participant. Editorial, brand and collaboration projects are quoted per brief, with usage and licensing agreed up front. I'd rather give you a real number than a range, so send me a few lines about the project.

Restrained. Soft light, simple lines, muted color, and a preference for what's overlooked over what's spectacular. I photograph slowly, often with one small camera and one lens. For brands this translates into images that carry a story without overstating it; for portraits, into pictures that feel lived-in rather than posed.

Both, depending on what the work asks for. Digital for most commissioned work, where reliability and turnaround matter. Film — Kodak Portra, Kentmere, among others — when the softness and grain suit the subject. Several prints in the shop were shot on film and say so in the description.
